I have been a hockey fan since birth, I think. I used to watch the Detroit Red Wings with my dad (his favourite team). When I was child I was mesmorized with Bobby Orr and since I planned to marry him Boston became my favourite team. I still have a huge crush on him and have had a chance to meet his dad before he passed away and Sarah had a chance to interview Bobby and get me the classic photo; autographed…a dream. Sadly though, I have not been a Boston fan since the early nineties when Mario caught my eye. I have been a Pittsburgh Penguins Fan every since. I was thrilled that they won the Stanley Cup in 2008 and keep hoping they win again while Malkin, Crosby & Fleury are all together. I started working on this quilt in 2007 and it took me 2 1/2 years to complete since I can’t do just one project to completion :).
It got known everywhere I took as that “damn hockey quilt” so the moniker just stuck but I did change the name to “The Hockey Quilt”

| closeup of one of the corners that are all black (of course) that shows a couple of the numerous crests on the quilt that I collected that related to the Pens |
