Hello

Today is the first day of summer here in Canada. A day I’ve come to loath as much as I love. It provides the most daylight in one day than any other day of the year. But that means it’s all downhill from here to winter’s frosty grip.

We are so happy you decide to join us. We have big plans for this website, but it all starts with you. If you have specific questions about the CM17  or if there is something specific, you want to learn you can always ask Maggie at askmaggie@cdnquilter.ca.

If you want more information about the products we sell, please don’t hesitate to contact us at debbie@quiltinstitchin.ca.

Life gets in the way

I started 2023 with a reflective journal and plan for managing my business and my personal quilting work. Then hubby had an emergency aneurysm repair and I had breast abnormalities. We are well but it sure sucks the motivation right out of you. So instead, I overhauled my sewing shack–reorganizing and cleaning from top to bottom. Now I am back to trying to focus. I am finishing UFOs and if I really don’t want to finish the initially planned quilt then I just finish something.

Why do I tell you this story? Because we all have something going on. How we manage the time and adversity is key. What is your go-to stress reliever? Me? It’s my dog Coco and our new puppy Thomas. They love me no matter what and it heals my soul.

I am so excited to have a couple of patterns designed. They may never sell but they sure keep me on my toes and my mind sharp. They take a lot of thought to design and to write.

Organizing

I’ve been busy reorganizing my sewing shack. I have stuff everywhere. I am also using my 2023 planner to figure out my goals/projects/reflections. I want to make 2023 a more productive, positive year.

It is hard to get your sewjo back when it’s gone so I thought by thinking about sewing and reorganizing the sewing shack and doing my Quilting Bullet Journal I expect it to come back soon….

Did you have a good summer?

Frequently in Canada it averages 24C or 80F in July & August. Like many places it was warm (>25C/86F). Personally, I am not a fan of the cold so I enjoyed it very much.

Currently, I am doing some reading pillows. There are so many options not only on the embroidery but also on the pillow sewing pattern.

For those of you who want to lose weight I have added a stash-shrinker-v41 Excel sheet for you. Personally, I don’t think one can have enough fabric.

Please drop me a note and let me know how you are doing.
